Pirates attacked a Bangladeshi fishing trawler, killing 14 of its crew before stuffing them into an ice chamber, police said Thursday. The lone survivor, Nurul Huq, told police that the fishermen were sailing home after 10 days at sea when they were attacked by about a dozen pirates. The pirates killed 14 of the crew and hid their bodies in an ice chamber on the trawler, before fleeing with fish and fishing equipment, Huq said, according to police. Huq said he survived by hiding in the engine room. Police on Thursday recovered the bodies from the trawler after it was found by a police patrol boat near Cox's Bazar, 296 kilometers (185 miles) south of Dhaka, police official Fakhrul Islam said. Piracy is common in the Bay of Bengal, the source of fish for thousands of fishermen.
