Portugal today announced approval of a proposal presented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the world community to establish an international center for combating terrorism. In a press conference to mark the current visit of Prince Khalid Alfaisal, the Governor of Assir region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to Portugal during which he held a private plastic arts exhibition in Centra, Portuguese Foreign Minister Diego Emerald said his country accepts the Saudi proposal as regards the international center for fighting terrorism. He said war against this phenomenon could take several ways and enter a number of fields to wipe it out. He welcomed the current visit of Prince Khalid and said it was considered with interest. He disclosed that he is planning to pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, probably in February 2006. He added that a draft agreement on cooperation between Portugal and Saudi Arabia is in the last touches. The Foreign Minister commended the arts exhibition held by Prince Khalid Alfaisal in the city of Centra, Portugal.
