The fourth annual conference for the Arab Thought Foundation will be held in Dubai, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, the Governor of Assir region, said in a statement to Beirut-based 'Al-Mustakbal' newspaper. He noted that the conference, due to be held on Dec 5-6, 2005, will review a number of media issues. 'In the light of the important role that can be played by the media in correcting wrong ideas about the Arabs and Muslims, a great attention is to be attached to the media', he said. Prince Khalid highlighted the role that could be played by the media in encouraging investments and fighting corruption and terrorism. He said the media should be characterized by credibility and transparence. 'The forthcoming conference does not only aim at the evaluation of the Arab media, but it also aims at starting a direct dialogue with the international media', he noted. Prince Khalid said the conference will be held under the patronage of Dubai's Heir Apparent. 'As our region is facing unprecedented dangers, then it is high time to deal with these dangers through the media which is characterized by credibility, responsibility and transparence', he added.
