Pakistan offered condolences Tuesday to the United States over the deaths and destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina. In a message to U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Foreign Minister Khursheed Kasuri said he hoped "the resilient American people will recover from the aftermath of this tragedy in the shortest period," a Foreign Ministry statement said. "On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, and on my own behalf, I would like to convey deepest condolences to the bereaved families and sympathy to all those who have been affected by this terrible natural disaster," the statement quoted Kasuri as saying.
