Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) welcomes inputs of any issue relevant to the free trade agreements (FTA) that Malaysia is currently negotiating with several countries, Bernama reported. In a statement, MITI said it was inviting business and industry associations, professional bodies and chamber of commerce and individual companies to provide the inputs. Feedbacks, suggestions and views from the private sector are vital in order to ensure that their concerns and interests can be advanced and addressed in the FTA negotiations, it said. The ministry said it had been seeking inputs from the private sector through various trade and industry associations. At the bilateral level, Malaysia was currently negotiating FTAs with Japan, India, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand. With Japan, agreement in principle had been reached on issues negotiated in the FTA and the text of the bilateral agreement was being finalized. --more 1247 Local Time 0947 GMT
