Israel all but completed its evacuation of settlements in occupied Gaza on Sunday after settlers set aside confrontation to pray with troops and leave peacefully, reported Reuters. Soldiers cleared the settlements of Atzmona, Katif and Slav, the last in a cluster of enclaves in south Gaza known as Gush Katif. That left just one of the 21 Gaza settlements to be vacated, the remote central enclave of Netzarim, due on Monday. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon bills the withdrawal as "disengagement" from conflict with the Palestinians and U.S.-led mediators hope the move will eventually revive a Middle East peace process frozen since 2000. --SP 0032 Local Time 2132 GMT
