A small plane crashed Saturday in southern Italy, killing the two people on board, authorities said Saturday, according to AP. The two-seater went down in a national park near San Lorenzo Bellizzi, about 275 kilometers (170 miles) south of Naples, said Fabrizio Palatucci, an officer with the Carabinieri paramilitary police in nearby Cerchiara di Calabria. He said officials had not yet identified the victims. «The bodies were charred, and everything that was on the plane was burned,» Palatucci said, adding that the victims were probably a man and a woman, but it was too early to say with certainty. The plane had left from the nearby coastal town of Sibari, and it was unclear where it was headed. The crash happened shortly before 5 p.m. (1500GMT), and witnesses told authorities that the pilot had tried to make an emergency landing in a field, Palatucci said.
