Pakistan is due to get two refurbished multi- role F-16 combat jets from the United States by December, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported Saturday. APP quoted the country's Ambassador to Washington, Jehangir Karamat, as saying that Pakistan wants to acquire some 75 F-16s from the U.S. in addition to these two jets. Karamat told APP that "things are moving smoothly" after the U.S. administration's approval to sell F-16 jets to Pakistan. He added that the exact configuration, cost and numbers of the planes to be sold to Pakistan are being negotiated between the two countries, according to DPA. The U.S. had announced its intention to sell F-16 aircraft to Pakistan in last March following a visit to Islamabad by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
