The current president of the U.N. Security Council, Japanese Ambassador Kenzo Oshima, expressed on Tuesday Council members' regret and condolences over the death of King Fahd of Saudi Arabia. They highlighted his diplomatic and political achievements at the regional and international arenas. A statement read by Oshima said the members offered condolences to King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi government and people. They highlighted accomplishments achieved by King Fahd and said he had devoted his entire time in the service of his country and people and noted that he had contributed positively to enhancing pillars of peace and understanding as well as security and stability in the Arab region and the rest of the world.
