Some 50,000 people are expected to gather Monday in the eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica to mark the 10th anniversary of the massacre in the former Bosnian Moslem enclave, organizers told dpa here Sunday. During the commemoration at the Memorial Center Potocari near Srebrenica, 610 recently identified Srebrenica victims would be buried, making a total of 1,937 Srebrenica victims that were buried in Potocari out of 2,070 victims identified in the last decade. More than 1,500 police troops were to be posted to provide security for the commemoration event. Up to 8,000 Bosnian Moslem men and boys were massacred after Bosnian Serb troops, supported by units from Serbia, captured the former eastern Bosnian Moslem enclave during the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The commemoration in Potocari should also be attended by a numerous international delegations, including presidents of Albania, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, foreign ministers of Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Turkey, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Macedonia and other international dignitaries. --More 2324 Local Time 2024 GMT
