Seven persons including a policeman and six alleged criminals were killed in an encounter between police and dacoits in Pakistan's Punjab province Thursday, police said. The policeman killed in the clash was identified as Rana Dildar, who was sub inspector. The encounter took place at Kahna near Lahore, the capital of the Punjab province. Police said that the dacoits were looting occupants of vehicles at Kahna. On getting information about it, Dildar and police constable Saleem Ahmed reached the spot. The unidentified dacoits opened fire on the policemen and killed Dildar on the spot. Ahmed sustained injuries. Police reinforcement was summoned to catch hold of the criminals. They exchanged fire and as a result, six dacoits were shot dead in the forest near Jhugian Rasoolpura in an hour-long encounter.
