Stocks rose almost across the board on Tuesday, but gains were modest ahead of Wednesday's key economic news, including the U.S. consumer prices report for May. U.S. light crude for July delivery fell 62 cents to settle at $55 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 25, or 0.24 percent, settling at 10,547.57, and the technology-heavy Nasdaq didn't budge, closing at 2,069.04. The broader Standard & Poor 500 was up 3, or 0.26 percent, and closed at 1,203.91. The New York Stock Exchange Composite Index was up 22.12, or 0.31 percent, settling at 7,235.14, and the American Stock Exchange Composite Index was up 0.87, or 0.06 percent, to close at 1,535.13. The Russell 2000 was up 5.37, or 0.85 percent, to 634.39.
