Pakistan's Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will pay an official visit to the United States next month for talks with U.S. leaders on a range of regional, global and bilateral issues, it was announced Saturday. "The U.S. government has formally invited me for an official visit to Washington, which will take place sometime next month," Aziz told a press conference in Islamabad Saturday, DPA reported. This will be the first high level visit to Washington from Pakistan since Islamabad captured and handed over to the U.S. a suspected top al-Qaeda member. Pakistan is a key U.S. ally in the war against terror. It is believed the talks agenda will include the ongoing war against terror, Pakistan's continued efforts to track down al-Qaeda and Taliban fugitives, ways to enhance trade, investment and defence ties, the ongoing Pakistan-India peace process, and the latest developments in Afghanistan and Iraq. Pakistan's Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmud Kasuri is already in Washington, holding talks with U.S. administration officials. -- SPA 0009 Local Time 2109 GMT
