A powerful car bomb hit a Russian military convoy in Chechnya on Saturday, the Moscow-backed Chechen administration said. It was not immediately clear whether anyone was killed in the blast. The explosion occurred near the Russian military base in Khankala, just outside the Chechen capital, Grozny, the local branch of Russia's Emergency Situation Ministry said in a statement. The Russian state 'Rossiya' television said a truck rigged with explosives blew up when a military convoy was leaving the base. It said the explosion sent shrapnel flying, hitting an unspecified number of people.
