A bomb killed two U.S. troops and wounded a third as they were driving in a military convoy near the Afghan-Pakistan border, while fighting between Afghan forces and Taliban rebels left three insurgents dead, officials said Saturday. An Afghan interpreter was also wounded in the blast, which hit a U.S. armored vehicle on Friday in Urgun district in Paktika province, the U.S. military said in a statement. The wounded were evacuated by helicopter to a U.S. base for treatment, the statement said. The attack occurred as the convoy was returning from the village of Gayan. The military has started an investigation, The Associated Press reported.
