Four suspected insurgents and one government soldier died in a fire fight involving U.S. warplanes and artillery near Afghanistan's border with Pakistan, the American military said Sunday. The clash occurred Thursday near Gayan, 160 kilometers (100 miles) south of the capital, Kabul, in Paktika province, a military statement said. Another Afghan soldier was wounded, while no Americans were reported hurt.
