With total value of shares traded in May reaching a record SR369 billion, the Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) for May closed at 12,019.68 points compared with 11,246.55 for April, with an increase of 6.87 percent. The index reached its heights at 12,729.14 points on May 22, setting a new benchmark. Year to-date, the index increased by 46 percent. Market capitalization by the end of May closed at SR1.74 trillion ($464 billion) increasing by 7 percent compared with market capitalization for April, according to an economic report published today by Arab News. The total value of shares traded in May has reached a record SR369 billion ($98.4 billion) compared with SR306 billion in April, thus gaining a 21 percent plus. The number of shares traded in May totaled 1.2 billion compared with 869.3 million shares in April, marking a 42 percent increase. Total transactions in May reached 4.2 million compared with 2.44 transactions in April, up by 73 percent.
