China's defense chief arrived in India Monday for a six-day visit aimed at boosting military ties between the two Asian powers, officials said. Gen. Liang Guanglie was scheduled to hold meetings with India's defense minister, Pranab Mukherjee, and the heads of the Indian army, navy and air force, said Lt. Col. B.M. Mehta, a defense ministry spokesman. Liang also was to visit military command units in the western Indian cities of Bombay and Pune, and India's national defense academy, The Associated Press reported.
