Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari will visit Turkey, his office said Wednesday, on his first foreign visit since taking office last month. His office said he would leave Iraq for Turkey on Thursday for a May 20-21 visit and will be accompanied by several ministers. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said al-Jaafari would arrive Thursday evening and that Turkish and Iraqi delegations would hold meetings on Friday. "Our aim is to contribute to regional peace and environment of calm," Erdogan said. Turkey's foreign ministry announced in Ankara that al-Jaafari would be discussing ties between the two countries, Iraq's reconstruction and exchange views on possible joint cooperation projects.
