Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, on the second day of his state visit to Jordan, announced Sunday that his trip had produced an agreement for jointly "fighting terrorism", dpa reported. "An agreement has been reached for reinvigorating joint panels and fighting terrorism because it represents a menace, from which all states of the region do suffer," Talabani told reporters after a meeting with Jordanian Prime Minister Adnan Badran. "I have received support beyond my expectations," he said, alluding to a pledge by King Abdullah II to place all Jordanian potential at the disposal of the Iraqi government in its efforts to eradicate terrorism and restore stability to the neighbouring war- ravaged country. Talabani did not give further details, but the successive U.S.- backed Iraqi government had been urging some countries bordering Iraq to assume firmer control of their borders so as to prevent infiltration of militant Islamists to carry out attacks inside Iraq. --More 2332 Local Time 2032 GMT
