Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham is the world's highest paid footballer, earning through salary, bonuses and advertising fees some 25 million euros (about 32 million dollars) a year, dpa quoted today the bi-weekly France Football as saying. Following Beckham are two other Real "Galacticos", the Brazilian striker Ronaldo with 19.6 million euros and French midfielder Zinedine Zidane, 13 million euros. The magazine noted that the highest paid footballer playing in France is Paris Saint Germain defender Mario Yepes, who earns "only" 3 million euros a year.
