The Austrian government is concentrating on infrastructure and research in a bid to create jobs, it emerged from the "Reform Dialogue on Growth and Employment" held on Sunday (May Day) at Vienna's Hofburg. The government coalition expects thousands of new jobs in the short term which would be created by a "billion (euros) for research", the extension of power stations and a further 300 million euros for infrastructure, DPA reported. Following the invitation of Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel, Vice Chancellor Hubert Gorbach, the ministers Martin Bartenstein (Economics), Karl-Heinz Grasser (Finance), Elisabeth Gehrer (Education) and Ursula Haubner (Social Affairs), members of the social partnership and the opposition parties and some international experts like E.U. Industry Commissioner Guenter Verheugen and German economic analyst Bert Ruerup took part in the "employment summit" on May Day. --more 2329 Local Time 2029 GMT
