President sets July 3 as date for Albanian general elections

Albanian President Alfred Moisiu on
Monday set July 3 as the date for his country's next
general election.
"After consultations with Albanian politicians and
international factors, I decided to decree July 3 as the
date for holding general elections," Moisiu told
reporters.
He added that "these elections are very important for the
country's" efforts to join the EU and NATO "and its
development."
