Crude futures edged higher Tuesday, continuing the climb they began a day earlier. Light, sweet crude for May delivery rose 18 cents to US$53.89 a barrel by midday in Europe on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Heating oil rose nearly a cent to US$1.4967 a gallon (3.8 liters), while unleaded gasoline was selling for US$1.5586, an increase of nearly a penny. On the International Petroleum Exchange in London, Brent crude was up 11 cents to US$53.32 a barrel.
