Moldova's pro-Western President Vladimir Voronin named Vasile Tarlev to continue as prime minister Friday and instructed the future government to carry out wide-ranging reforms and reduce corruption. Parliament on Friday also voted in an opposition leader as deputy head of the legislature. "In the next four years the government needs to modernize Moldova," said Voronin, 64, re-elected president of this country of 4.5 million on Monday. He said the new government would reduce the number of civil servants by 70 percent and cut the number of ministries.
