A car bomb exploded on Tuesday near a checkpoint of the Iraqi army on the way to the city's main airport, the national broadcaster Al-Iraqiya TV said. Quoting police sources, the broadcaster said the explosion "lead to the fall of a number of victims". Without providing specifics, the report also said the blast caused some material damage. Another car bomb struck a U.S. military convoy in the Dora neighborhood south of Baghdad destroying three U.S. military vehicles and killing or wounding a number of U.S. troops, said eyewitnesses. In another development, gunmen attacked a residence of a female translator working with the police in Baquba north-east of Baghdad, injuring her and killing her father on Tuesday, hospital sources said.
