Delegates from some 26 countries began arriving in Pakistan on Monday for a conference on promoting economic cooperation in Asia, the Foreign Ministry said. Senior officials from the United Arab Emirates and foreign ministers of Cambodia, Myanmar and Kazakhstan have already arrived in the capital Islamabad for the Asian Cooperation Dialogue meeting, which gets under way on Wednesday, the ministry said. Other officials were scheduled to arrive later Monday and Tuesday, it said. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is scheduled to arrive Tuesday to attend the conference and meetings on the sideline with Pakistani leaders. Wen will hold talks with President Gen. Pervez Musharraf and his Pakistani counterpart, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz during the three-day visit. Last week, Foreign Ministry spokesman Jalil Abbas Jilani said Wen's visit is part of high-level contacts between Pakistan and China, and it will help enhance cooperation between the two countries.
