Police arrested three members of a Muslim militant group and seized a caches of arms and munitions in raids in southern Pakistan, an official said Sunday. The men, allegedly members of Baqiyatullah, a previously little known group, were arrested Saturday night in Karachi, said Raja Omar Khitab, deputy superintendent of police in Karachi. Two of the suspects were identified as Muzaffar Ali and Azhar Hussain. Their ages were not given. Dozens of grenades and an unspecified amount of rocket launchers, rifles, pistols, land mines and other munitions was seized in the raids during which the arrests were made, Khitab said. Baqiyatullah is believed to be an offshoot of another Shiite group Sipah-e-Mohammed, he said citing initial questioning of the suspects.
