U.S.-led coalition forces on Saturday said attacks by the remnants of the former Taliban regime have increased over last winter, mainly in areas bordering Pakistan. Cindy Moore, a spokeswoman for the coalition forces told reporters in Kabul that coalition forces and Afghan security troops have discovered a number of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) recently. "This shows that some of the Taliban or other anti-government insurgents will continue to try to destabilize Afghanistan through violent acts," Moore said. Meanwhile, some former Taliban fighters have decided to stop fighting, but there is still a threat of IEDs, car bombs and small unit attacks, she said. "We will not be complacent. Coalition forces will continue to aggressively pursue those seeking to destabilize the government of Afghanistan," she added. Moore said that coalition forces will work to prevent attacks on civilians.
