The speaker of Kyrgzstan's new parliament said Monday that fresh presidential elections can be held only after talks with ousted President Askar Akayev, and said lawmakers would review whether the appointment of an acting leader was legal. "New presidential elections can only be called after talks with Akayev, otherwise it will be another anti-constitutional move," speaker Omurbek Tekebayev said, adding fresh uncertainty to prospects for stability following Akayev's ouster last week during opposition protests.
