Helicopter gunships backed army troops on the ground in an offensive against militants Sunday in a Pakistani tribal region that left two soldiers injured, officials said. The search operation was launched in Mana, a village about 150 kilometers (95 miles) west of Miran Shah, the main town in the North Waziristan tribal area, an intelligence official in Miran Shah said on condition of anonymity. The soldiers were injured when a grenade one of them was handling exploded during the operation. They were taken to a military hospital in the area for treatment for their injuries, which weren't serious, he said.
