Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi has held talks with the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Shahin Abdullayev, it was reported today. During the meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the GCC in Riyadh yesterday, the two sides underscored the importance of consolidating the GCC-Azerbaijani relations. They reviewed the bilateral ties between the GCC countries and Azerbaijan and ways of enhancing and developing them in all fields. Referring to the memorandum of understanding signed between the GCC and Azerbaijan in 2013, the meeting covered ways of activating all fields of cooperation between the two sides, citing energy, trade, investment, food security, culture, tourism, education, and communication among the two sides nations, as well as planning to hold the second version of the GCC-Azerbaijani economic forum given the positive outcomes of the first forum which was held in 2017. As part of the meeting, viewpoints towards regional and international issues of common interest were exchanged. Dr Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Owaisheq, Assistant Secretary General of the GCC for Political Affairs and Negotiations, attended the meeting.
