Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) met today with Mariam Bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, Cabinet Member and Minister of Climate Change and Environment in the United Arab Emirates, on the sidelines of the GCC Secretary General's participation in the World Government Summit 2023, being held February 12-15, 2023, in Dubai. During the meeting, several issues were discussed to enhance aspects of cooperation and joint support to promote the efforts of the international community, countries, and institutions to deal with climate change and to mobilize action as well as cement global goals and ambitions for a collective response and to reduce the repercussions of climate change and build a better world by creating new economic opportunities that ensure sustainability. For his part, the GCC Secretary General affirmed that the United Arab Emirates hosting of the COP 28 Climate Change Conference will prove to the world the ability of the GCC countries and people to house global events, which will be an addition to the remarkable successes of the Council, which are enjoying the sponsorship and support of Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC member states. Further commenting, he stressed the determination of the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council to exert maximum efforts to ensure that the COP 28 Climate Change Conference would be a success.
