On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, patronized here today the inaugural ceremony of Janadriyah 20th National Festival for Heritage and Culture annually organized by the National Guard. Upon arrival at the venue, the Crown Prince was received by Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Riyadh Region; Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz, the Vice Governor of Riyadh Region; Prince General Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Assistant Deputy Commander of the National Guard for Military Affairs; and other officials of the National Guard. The ceremony was also attended by Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain's Crown Prince and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Force; Sheikh Saeed bin Zayid Al Nahayan, the United Arab Emirates' Member of the Executive Council and Head of Seaports Department and Singapore's Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong . Then the Camel Grand Race started. The Crown Prince handed prizes to winners. Later the Crown graced a dinner party. A speech ceremony was held on this occasion. In his speech, Prince General Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, who is also Deputy Chairman of the Higher Committee organizing the Festival thanked the Crown Prince for gracing all Janadriyah festivals and he reviewed the achievements of the festivals in twenty years. Then on behalf of the King, the Crown Prince awarded medals to the Saudi Cultural personality for this year and a businessman. The ceremony and party were attended by a number of princes, Kingdom's guests, ministers, officials and citizens.
