The 8th G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit of the G20 countries continued in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, with the participation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation headed by the Speaker of the Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, in the presence of Indonesian President Joko Widodo, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Duarte Pacheco, and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia Puan Maharani, and Parliamentary Speakers participating in the Summit. The Day-2 sessions, which were held today at the Indonesian Parliament, discussed various topics on the Summit's agenda, including social integration and the empowerment of women, and the roles that parliaments play in this regard. The participants also discussed the importance of parliaments' efforts to support countries to confront all the crises and challenges the world is going through to realize the hopes and aspirations of the peoples. Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, inaugurated the forum, stressing the importance of comprehensive cooperation between the parliaments, to build a better future and achieve recovery after the Corona pandemic, as well as strengthening the efforts of the G20 parliaments to enhance communication between the member states and boost cooperation. The forum also discussed several topics, including the environment and its preservation, carbon emissions, and the use of renewable energy. The Shura Council delegation also included Council member Major General Mansour bin Sultan Al-Turki, Council member Dr. Amal bint Yahya Al-Sheikh, Council member Dr. Osama bin Hassan Aref, Council member Dr. Amira bint Ahmed Al-Balawi, and several Council officials.
