Names of winners of Riyadh region municipal councils were announced this evening by Prince Dr. Mansour bin Mit'eb bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Municipal Electoral Commission. In a press conference held here tonight, Prince Dr. Mansour bin Mit'eb bin Abdulaziz announced that Abdullah Alsuwailem, Sulaiman Salih Alroshoodi, Tariq Othman Alqasbi, Omer Mohammed Basudan, Ibrahim bin Hamad Alqaeed and Misfer bin Abdullah Albawardi won Riyadh Region's first municipal council's direct elections. The remaining seven members of the 14-member council will be appointed by the government, according to the municipal councils system. Prince Dr. Mansour said 56,354 voters took part in the polls in the city of Riyadh, representing 65 % of the 86,462 registered voters. As for the other provinces, affiliates of Riyadh Region, the number of voters in the northern sector were 14826, representing 85% of the registered (17441) voters; the number of voters in the western sector were 17776, representing 79.5% of the registered (22351) voters, and the number of voters in the southern sector were 18154, representing 82.5% of the registered (21998) voters, he added.
