NAJRAN/RIYADH/MADINA: A committee has been formed to field any objections related to the upcoming municipal council elections in Najran. Prince Dr. Mansour Bin Mit'eb Bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, appointed Dr. Ali Bin Mansour Aal Atiyah as chairman of the body. The other members of the committee are Fahd Bin Saleh Aqala and lawyer Abdullah Bin Olayyan Al-Wateed. Ali Own Al-Yami, spokesman for the Local Supervisory Committee for Municipal Elections in Najran Region, said the committee would consider appeals and other complaints arising from the polls. Meanwhile, Engineer Muhammad Al-Aql, Director General of the Investments Development Administration at Riyadh Region's Mayoralty, member of the Executive Committee for Elections and Supervisor General of the Third Electoral Circuit, said 1,000 billboards have been erected in Riyadh region to inform and educate people about the polls. He said these billboards have been placed at bridges and tunnels. Large electronic billboards have also been set up at a number of major intersections in Riyadh showing the routes to the voting stations. He said the local committee is ready to open reserve voting stations to guarantee the smooth running of the elections. In Madina, more than 8,000 voters registered during the second week of voter registration, bringing the total to 15,328 as at Thursday, May 5. This was disclosed by Engineer Ayid Bin Hussein Al-Blaihishi, Spokesman of the Local Supervisory Committee for Municipal Elections in Madina Region.
