President Mwai Kibaki reaffirmed Friday that he is personally committed to fighting graft, in his first comments since Kenyans and diplomats questioned his resolve following the resignation of his anti-corruption adviser. Kibaki, however, made no mention in his speech to Kenyan business leaders about the resignation Monday by John Githongo as the governance and ethics permanent secretary. His security men prevented journalists from asking about the issue. "With regard to the fight against corruption, I would like to reiterate that this is a commitment by the NARC government and as well as my personal commitment," Kibaki told an umbrella group of Kenyan business associations.
