Saudi security forces, including the Army, Navy and air services, have shifted to high gear in the use of firepower and equipment in the fight against terrorists, reported today Jeddah-based 'Saudi Gazette'. The firepower and sophisticated equipment in combating terrorism are on display at the Multi-Purpose Convention Center of the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) in Dhahran. The anti-terror exhibition is being held in conjunction with the Counter-Terrorism International Conference that was held in Riyadh this week. About 30 agencies, mostly Saudi security forces, are participating in the exhibition. Our various services in the armed forces are now mandated to fight terrorism in all its forms, hence, lately, the services have equipped their ranks with new fighting machines and equipment against the terrorists, said Lt. Yahya Ali Al-Qahtani of the Royal Saudi Land Force. Overall, the Saudi National Police remains the lead force in the fight against terrorism because it is the agency that is directly in touch with citizens and the expatriate population. Various services in the Saudi armed forces have displayed their anti-terror machines at the exhibition, including the National Police, the Navy, the Marine Corps , Coast Guard, Air Force, Land Force (including the Border Patrols), and the National Guard . --more 1337 Local Time 1037 GMT
