An unknown attacker hurled a small bomb on Friday into a provincial Ecuadorean radio station belonging to a prominent opponent of President Lucio Gutierrez, police said. No one was hurt by the explosion at radio Canela in the Amazon city of Macas at 2:30 a.m. (0730 GMT), police said. Radio Canela belongs to Wilson Cabrera, a leader of the Citizens' Participation movement which has led street protests against the dismissal of the entire Supreme Court late last year by Congress acting on a request from Gutierrez. Cabrera's brother Freddy, who works at Radio Canela, said the bomber wanted the station to stop criticizing the government. "They want to scare us. We found a piece of paper after the explosion which told us to stop spreading lies. We've denounced government corruption," Cabrera said. The attack came as Gutierrez has accused prominent journalists of being in league with his political opponents and called on the media to stop criticizing him. --More 0030 Local Time 2130 GMT
