An avalanche in eastern
Uzbekistan killed five people and injured one, the emergency ministry said Friday.
Four road workers were buried in their trailers and a
meteorologist died of injuries suffered in the avalanche
Wednesday in the Kamchik mountain pass, which links central
Uzbekistan with the Fergana valley some 150 kilometers (95
miles) east of Tashkent, the Emergency Situations Ministry
said. Another meteorologist was injured.
