A homemade bomb went off as three men were trying to break into the grounds of a fire station in a central Russian city, killing two and injuring the third, officials said Wednesday. The explosive went off accidentally as the men were trying to gain entry to the fire station grounds in Cheboksary, capital of the Chuvashia region on the Volga River about 650 kilometers (400 miles) east of Moscow, said Vladimir Prozherin, a duty officer at the Volga-Urals regional office of the Emergency Situations Ministry. One of the men died on the scene and another died in the hospital Wednesday, a regional Federal Security Service official said on condition of anonymity.
