An Israeli court has extended the detention of a Palestinian with Danish citizenship who is accused of filming security installations, the Danish Foreign Ministry said on Thursday. "The court decided to extend the detention of the Danish citizen, who has been detained in Israel since Jan. 6 until Sunday Jan. 30," the ministry said in a statement. It said the prosecutor had still not presented a indictment. On Wednesday, Israel accused Lebanon-born Iyyad al-Ashuah, 39, of videotaping its security installations and trying to recruit Israeli Arabs. Ashuah was taken into custody after guards aboard a cross-country train he was travelling on noticed him filming out of the window. He has denied any wrongdoing. The Danish Foreign Ministry summoned Israel's envoy to Copenhagen last week in an attempt to ensure fair treatment for the detainee. Since 1997, Israel has arrested at least two other Europeans -- a Lebanese with British citizenship and a German convert to Islam. Authorities also accuse the guerrilla group of trying to recruit Israeli Arabs -- a community which, while generally sympathetic to the Palestinian statehood struggle, has had little involvement in violence. --SP 1843 Local Time 1543 GMT
