Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Alsuwailim, the Chairman of the Saudi Red Crescent Society, visited on Wednesday evening the Islamic Center in the Maldives and met the Chairman of the Higher Council for Islamic Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Rasheed. During the meeting, Alsuwailim conveyed the condolences of the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the relatives of the victims of the earthquake and tsunami which devastated parts of a number of South Asian countries. He told Rasheed that the purpose of his current tour of the Maldives and other countries in the region is to assess the situation, estimate the requirements needed by the affected people in the region and propose the mechanisms to carry them out.
