The huge convertible umbrellas at the Prophet's Holy Mosque were designed in an accurate architectural way, where each one tops the other, with the height of the first reaching 14.40 meters and the other 15.30 meters, and the height will be equal upon closure at 21.70 meters. A total of 250 umbrellas were installed at the courtyards of the Prophet's Holy Mosque, where they were installed in two phases, the first including 182 umbrellas and the second including the remaining 68. The total area of the umbrellas stands at 143,000 square meters with the total number of worshippers under the umbrellas reaching around 228,000 people, where the umbrellas contain 436 spray fans that were installed at the sides of the umbrellas, where each fan has 16 openings that sprays water, with the fans treating around 200 liters of water per hour. Umbrellas are provided with water through two stations that purify spray water, where fans moisturize the external air so as guests of the Prophet's Holy Mosque enjoy proper atmospheres, where all these procedures are done through a main control room to administrate and maintain the umbrellas.
