The eighth season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is about to start, with the first and second rounds of the Diriyah FIA 2022 Grand Prix, scheduled to be held on January 28 and 29, at night under the floodlights. Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Motorsport Co. (SMC) said: "I am proud that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted the first and second rounds of the Formula E racing season in Diriyah, which set a precedent by hosting the night race for the second time in a row. Through this distinguished series that is in perfect harmony with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, we reiterate our full commitment to the concepts of sustainability, and we look forward to witnessing an exciting season of racing. We are fully prepared to receive all fans from all over the world." For his part, CEO of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, Jerry Inzerillo, said: "I am pleased to welcome the return of the Diriyah Formula E race for the fourth consecutive year in the Kingdom, which represents one of the most prominent sporting events in our sports calendar, and an ideal opportunity to establish Diriyah as a future tourist destination that cares about pedestrian traffic, based on its ancient and historical past.
