German shares slipped in early trading Wednesday on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, while the euro was steady on currency markets. As the new session got underway, the 30-share DAX lost 0.18 per cent to 4250 points, while the MDAX list of 70 mid-caps slipped a tiny 0.08 per cent to 5450 points. The tech stocks TecDAX index edged up a scant 0.04 per cent to just below 529 points. The euro was steady on European exchanges in early trading, with markets quoting 1.3123 dollars or 76.16 euro-cents per dollar. The rate was down slightly from the 1.3143 dollars reference pegging set Tuesday by the European Central Bank. Currency traders did not expect much movement on the market until the afternoon, when Washington reports its trade balance figures for November.
