A Saudi cargo plane, laden with relief materials weighing more than 80,000 tons, has arrived in Battam as part of the Saudi airlift assistance to quake-and-tsunami-hit victims in South Asia. The relief shipment consists of tents, carpet, medicine, foodstuffs and blankets. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency(SPA), the representative of the Ministry of Finance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Khalid bin Mohammed Alsharhan said consultations are underway with the Indonesian side on the mechanisms for distributing the assistance. On the other hand, Abdullah bin Abdulrahman A'lem, the Saudi ambassador to Indonesia, told the press that the Saudi leaders and people have collected more than $100 million in a one-night telethon on the Saudi television for the victims of the quake and tidal wave of the Asian seas.
