NATO soldiers in Bosnia-Herzegovina released Friday Bosnian Serb Dusan Tesic, detained two weeks ago on suspicion of helping wanted war crimes suspects to evade justice. A NATO statement released in Sarajevo said Tesic, also known as Bata Tesic, had been detained in the belief he had "valuable information with regards to the support network for the persons indicted for war crimes". However, releasing Tesic, NATO said it was satisfied with the information given by Tesic, but it did not reveal further details. Tesic was an officer in the Bosnian Serb special police, and was known as one of the chief bodyguards of Radovan Karadzic, former Bosnian Serb leader and one of the most wanted Bosnian Serb war crimes suspects. NATO troops detained Tesic a year ago under the same suspicion of supporting war criminals, but released him a month later. Some 150 NATO troops remain deployed in Bosnia-Herzegovina after the European Union Force (EUFOR) replaced the 7,000-strong NATO-led Stabilization Force (SFOR) in December last year. -
