On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Prince Abdul-Majeed bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Makkah region, washed here today the Holy Kaaba. On arrival at the grand mosque, Prince Abdul-Majeed was welcomed by Sheikh Saleh Al-Hussein, the General President of the Affairs of the Holy Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, and other senior officials. In a press statement after the ceremony, Prince Abdul-Majeed said the Saudi officials have been honored by the service of the two Holy Mosques. He highlighted the development projects implemented in Makkah and Madinah and said they will positively contribute to the service of Islam and Muslims as well as visitors of the Two Holy Mosques. Prince Abdul-Majeed said arrangements are underway to implement in Makkah and the Holy Places the projects earlier announced by Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard. 'The state is keen on ensuring the comfort of pilgrims and enabling them perform their rituals in comfort and ease', he added. The ceremony of washing was attended by a number of ministers and members of the accredited Islamic corps, the "sadens" (servants) of the Holy Mosque and a group of citizens and pilgrims.
